Rookie Goals Lift Tigers to Win at Dartmouth
October 18, 2025 | Women's Soccer
Three big Ivy League standings points came the Princeton women's soccer team's way after rookies Maddie Recupero and Julia Johnson scored their first career goals, both in the second half, and Sydney Romano and Cecilia Cerone turned in a shutout at the other end as the Tigers defeated Dartmouth 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in Hanover.
In the 53rd minute, Recupero had the finish after Dylan Jovanovic and Alexandra Barry sent the ball up the middle to get Princeton on the board, and just nine minutes later, Johnson was on the spot after Drew Coomans sent a corner kick into the six where Johnson sent in the loose ball.
Dartmouth outshot the Tigers overall 13-8, but shots on goal were even at 5-5 with Romano getting three first-half saves and Cerone two in the second.
Princeton's win, which kept Dartmouth at eight Ivy standings points, gave the Tigers nine Ivy standings points, putting them in the mix in the top half of the crowded Ivy standings. Harvard (nine points) was to host Brown (seven) later Saturday, while Columbia (seven) will host Yale (three). Cornell moved to six points with its win over Penn (two) earlier Saturday.Â
Princeton will return home to host Lehigh on Tuesday night before the homestand continues with a return to Ivy League play next Saturday against Columbia.Â
