Scoring
Riccardo Fantinelli tied his career low for a 54-hole tournament -- in the process tying his own program record for a three-round tournament -- as Princeton had a strong showing as a team en route to a runner-up finish at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate at Point O'Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.
Fantinelli had rounds of 67, 68, 65 to post a score of 200 (-10) to match his previous best of 200 (-10) at the USF/Howard Intercollegiate last season.
He was joined by Reed Greyserman inside the Top-10. Greyserman was -2 for his three rounds, opening with rounds of 69 and 68 on Sunday before closing with a 71 in the final round.
The Tigers were -10 as a group with team rounds of 274, 281 and 275 to finish with a combined score of 830 which was five shots back of team champion San Jose State.
Princeton's 830 over three rounds was just shy of the program-low for a three-round tournament which was set in 2024-25 when the Tigers totaled an 828 (-12) at the USF/Howard Intercollegiate.
The Tigers were T3 as a team after the first round, and moved up one spot in the second round. San Jose was one shots behind Princeton entering the final day, and moved up to first with a 269.
Fantinelli had arguably his finest tournament as a collegiate golfer with 14 birdies and only four bogeys. He was even through 10 holes in the first round before closing with three birdies over his final eight holes. In the second round, he had four birdies to two bogeys to finish two-under in the middle round and stay near the top of the leaderboard.
On Monday in the final round, Fantinelli had six birdies and one bogey. His closing stretch was stellar as he had three birdies over his final eight holes to post the day's lowest round of -5.
Of Princeton's 18 total individual rounds in the tournament, eight were in the 60s -- and all five of Princeton's scoring players had at least one round in the 60s over the course of the tournament.
In addition to Fantinelli's 65 in the final round, freshman Eric Zhao had a 65 of his own in the opening round. Both of those rounds match the low individual round by a Princeton player and it marks the first time two players had a round of 65 in the same tournament.
Up next for the Tigers is the Hamptons Intercollegiate at the Maidstone Club on October 6-7.
