Bird and Jurew Run on Day 2 of NCAA Regionals

Two Tigers competed on Day 2 of the NCAA East Regional in Lexington, Ky. After posting a 2:08.52 in the first round to advance to the quarterfinal round, sophomore Anna Jurew hit a snag this afternoon. Racing in heat 1, Jurew pulled up in the second lap after clocking a 1:00.70 in the first 400 meters.
Senior Lizzie Bird saw her Princeton career come to a close in this evening's steeplechase. Bird was seventh in the first heat at 10:17.15 and was 20th overall. She remarkably made the Regionals all four years at Princeton, reaching the championships in 2015.
On the final day of the NCAA Regionals, Princeton will have seniors Katie Hanss in the 1500 and senior Alexandra Markovich. Hanss will race in the quarterfinal of the 1500 at 6:30 p.m., while Markovich takes on the 5k at 8:05 p.m.
Princeton advanced two Tigers to the finals on Day 1, as both seniors Julia Ratcliffe and Allison Harris moved on in the hammer throw and pole vault, respectively.
