Hoops Coach Henderson Visits American Cancer Society's Lobby Day
September 29, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Mitch Henderson, the Franklin C. Cappon-Edward G. Green '40 Head Coach of Men's Basketball, spent his morning in Washington, D.C. on behalf of the American Cancer Society.
Joined by Oklahoma head coach Lon Kruger, Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey, Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey and the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network president Chris Hansen, Henderson spoke to 750 cancer patients, survivors and loved ones who were on Capitol Hill to talk to legislators about the importance of funding cancer research.
Henderson has been a part of several initiatives with the American Cancer Society and Coaches vs. Cancer, including visiting ACS CAN's Lobby Day in September 2013, a local event in April 2013 to promote ACS's Cancer Prevention Study-3 initiative, and has twice visited the NASDAQ stock exchange with Coaches vs. Cancer, in 2013 and 2011. The basketball staff also continues to take part in Coaches vs. Cancer's Suits and Sneakers day every January to promote awareness, physical activity and proper nutrition in fighting cancer.
Princeton is set to begin full-team practices in early October with the 2015-16 season opener set for Friday, Nov. 13 at Rider.
