Baseball Dropped by Old Dominion

Norfolk, Va. — Princeton was defeated by Old Dominion, 15-5 on Tuesday afternoon. The game was the final of a four-game stretch throughout Virginia.
The Tigers finished the game with ten hits. It's the third game they've reached double digits in knocks so far this season. Eric Marasheski's ninth-inning RBI single marked the fifth time Princeton has plated a run in the final frame this year. Jackson Emus, Noah Granet, Matthew Scannell, and Nick DiPietrantonio also chipped in with RBIs.
Nadir Lewis continued his impressive hitting streak, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple to maintain a .500 batting average this season.
The Monarchs set the tone early, scoring 13 runs in the game's first four innings. Princeton pulled one back courtesy of an RBI single from DiPietrantonio in the fifth inning, but Old Dominion responded with an RBI single of their own to make it a 14-1 game.
Two runs driven in by Emus and Scannell in the top of the sixth gave the Tigers a bit of momentum, but it was quickly negated as another run from the Monarchs extended their lead to 15-3. Granet and Marasheski each plated a baserunner in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, but the deficit proved to be insurmountable as Old Dominion held on for a 15-5 win.
Princeton will return to the diamond on Friday, March 11, as it heads into SEC territory to begin a three-game series against No. 23 Mississippi State with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
