Hompe Named Top 30 Finalist for 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year

Olivia Hompe has been selected as one of 30 finalists for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, it was announced by the NCAA this afternoon.
Schools nominated a record 543 women for the award this year, which conferences then narrowed to 145 nominees to be considered by the committee. Later this month, the selection committee will announce three women from each division as the nine finalists. From the finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2017 Woman of the Year, who will be named Oct. 22 at a ceremony in Indianapolis.

A finalist for the 2017 Tewaaraton Trophy, Hompe was a nominee for the Tewaaraton twice during her career. A two-time All-America, earning first-team honors as a senior when she was also named the Ivy League Attacker of the Year. In 2017 Hompe led the nation in goals per game and was third in points per game as she set the Princeton single-season record for goals and points in a season.

Hompe finished her career as the all-time leader at Princeton in goals (198) and points (285), more than any other women's or men's lacrosse player in Princeton history. She is a three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy League and was named to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team three times and was the MVP in 2016. Hompe holds six Ivy League Tournament records in goals, assists and points in both a game and in a tournament

The 2017 IWLCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year was named Academic All-Ivy League three times and the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll twice.

Hompe graduated from Princeton as a Woodrow Wilson School concentrator and a certificate in Near Eastern Studies. Proficient in Arabic, she focuses on security studies in the Middle East and North Africa and earned Princeton's Scholars in the Nation's Service Initiative (SINSI) award last year.
