2017-18 Schedule
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers, fresh off their eighth straight postseason bid, have announced their 2017-18 schedule.
"Today is a very exciting day as we officially release our upcoming season schedule," said head coach Courtney Banghart. "We will welcome great teams here to Jadwin and challenge ourselves against many of the best teams in the country. We will play a WNIT finalist from a year ago, an NCAA Sweet 16 participant, and ten opponents who earned postseason bids. In addition, we are playing teams from ten different conferences, including the ACC, the Big 10, the Big East, and the A-10, to go along with a deep and talented field in the Ivy League. We look forward to bringing energy and excitement to the season ahead."
Princeton begins the 2017-18 campaign with one of those 10 postseason teams in George Washington on Nov. 10 at Jadwin. The Colonials went to the WNIT after winning 20 games last season. The following week, the Tigers head on the road to Seton Hall (Nov. 16) before welcoming Georgia Tech (Nov. 19), a WNIT finalist, to Princeton.
After a trip to Davidson (Nov. 25), Banghart's unit takes on Villanova (Nov. 29), the team ended their season last year in the WNIT. The Wildcats won 20 games and advanced to the WNIT semifinals. A home meeting vs. Delaware (Dec. 2) opens up the month of December before trips to Lafayette (Dec. 6), Quinnipiac (Dec. 9), Rutgers (Dec. 13) and Wagner (Dec. 17). Quinnipiac won an impressive 29 games in 2016-17 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
The Tigers travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take part in the Gator Holiday Classic on Dec. 20 and 21st. Princeton will battle St. Joseph's (Dec. 20) and Chattanooga (Dec. 21) while down in Florida. St. Joseph's reached the WNIT, while Chattanooga won its fifth straight SoCon title en route to the NCAA Tournament.
The final non-conference matchup of the season takes place two days on Dec. 30 at Jadwin as the UMBC Retrievers made the trek. Last year, the Tigers broke single-game records for most threes (14) and most three-pointers attempted (37) in a victory over the Retrievers.
Ivy League play gets underway on Jan. 6 at the Palestra against the Penn Quakers. The Quakers have taken home the last two Ivy League crowns. The first Ivy weekend is at Jadwin against Columbia (Jan. 12) and Cornell (Jan. 13).
Action picks up in February as the Tigers hit the road at Yale (Feb. 2) and Brown (Feb. 3). Brown was selected as participant in the 2017 Women's Basketball Invitational. Three straight home meetings come after as Harvard (Feb. 9), Dartmouth (Feb. 10) and Penn (Feb. 13) come to Princeton. Harvard was the other Ivy representative in last season's WNIT.
The second four-game road trip of the season starts in Ithaca, N.Y. against Cornell (Feb. 16), followed by Columbia (Feb. 17) along with Dartmouth (Feb. 23) and Harvard (Feb. 24). Home excursions vs. Brown (Mar. 2) and Yale (Mar. 3) complete the regular season. The 2018 Ivy League Tournament will take place Mar. 10 and 11 at the Palestra.
