Leach and Markovich Clock PRs in ECAC Distance Races

Princeton is off to a great start as the ECAC Championships got underway at Weaver stadium this evening, with two Tigers clocking personal bests in the distance races.
Senior Alexandra Markovich ran a PR in the 5000, finishing in 16:29.62, well off her seeded time by 11 seconds to finish second out of 26 competitors. That sits her 55th in the East and on the edge of making the NCAA Regionals.
In the steeplechase, sophomore Brighie Leach ran a personal best of 10:30.88. She now ranks ninth all-time at Princeton in the event, a remarkable feat for the sophomore as Princeton has had a successful reputation in the event. The time puts her in range to qualify for the NCAA Regionals, at 43rd.
Day 2 begins at 10 a.m., tomorrow though anticipated weather could shift timing of events.
