Hompe Named a Finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy

Olivia Hompe has been named a finalist for the 2017 Tewaaraton Trophy award, the highest individual honor in college lacrosse.
Hompe leads the nation in goal per game, averaging 4.12, and is third in points per game with 6.06. She ranks first nationally in shots per game, taking an average of 8.47 per game and is fourth in free-position percentage (70.6%). Hompe has 103 points this season and 70 goals, both single-season records at Princeton.
This year she became Princeton's all-time leading scorer and goal scorer with 278 career points and 193 career goals. A three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection Hompe was named the Ivy League Attacker of the Year. She earned a Ivy League All-Tournament Team honors last weekend as she set six records, in points, goals and assists in a single game and in a tournament.
Hompe is Princeton's sixth Tewaaraton finalist and first since 2005. She looks to became the second Tiger to win the Tewaaraton, joining Rachael Becker, who won in 2003 when Princeton won it's third national championship. Other finalists from Princeton include: Julia Shaner (2001), Rachael Becker (2002, 2003), Theresa Sherry (2004) and Lindsey Biles (2005).Â
The five women's finalists are North Carolina junior midfielder Marie McCool, Maryland senior defender Nadine Hadnagy, Stony Brook junior attacker Kylie Ohlmiller and Maryland senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg. The winner will be chosen on June 1 at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
