HANOVER, N.H. – Princeton continues Ivy League play this weekend as it travels on the road to take on Dartmouth on Saturday (Apr. 8) and Harvard on Sunday (Apr. 9). Each day will be a doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m.
The Week That Was:
- Princeton opened up Ivy League play in dramatic fashion as it rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Brown Bears in game one last Sunday.
- Conor Nolan's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Tigers a walk-off win.
- Nick Hernandez finished game one with two hits. Chris Giglio went six innings, allowing one earned run and struck out seven. Ryan Smith nabbed his first win of the season, throwing two scoreless innings.
- Hernandez was even better in game two vs. Brown as he posted a career-high two home runs and five RBI as the Tigers snagged an 11-5 victory.
- The Yale Bulldogs took home two victories over Princeton Monday with 8-0 and 3-1 decisions at Clarke Field.
- Yale's 8-0 game one triumph was helped by Princeton's five errors. All of Yale's eight runs were unearned.
- The Bulldogs picked up a 3-1 win in game two despite Ben Gross going seven innings, scattering seven hits and allowing one earned run.
- Yesterday, a five-run sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Monmouth Hawks defeated Princeton Tigers, 8-4.
- Jesper Horsted and Ramzi Haddad led the Tigers with two hits each. Princeton's pitchers combined for nine strikeouts. Eli Kimbell and Bryce Keller went the last 2 1/3 innings, not allowing a hit, striking out five. Max West threw out three runners trying to advance on the base paths.
- David Harding leads the team in hitting (.328) and has hits in seven of his last nine games. During that stretch, Harding is hitting .480 (12-of-25) with five runs, four RBI and three doubles.
- Zack Belski's 13 walks are tied for seventh in the Ivy League.
- Conor Nolan's seven steals are fourth in the conference.
- David Harding sits with a .328/.371/.414 slash line this season. While his .328 leads the Tigers, the second baseman has added six runs, five doubles and five RBI.
- Along with his walk-off hit and team-high seven swipes, Conor Nolan is hitting .255 in 55 at-bats.
- Ramzi Haddad has six extra base hits, six runs and seven RBI this season for the Tigers.
- Ben Gross' 1.53 ERA is second in the Ivy League while his 8.28 strikeouts per nine innings is sixth.
- Chad Powers, the 2016 Ivy League Pitcher of the Year, sports a 3.04 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings.
- Freshman James Proctor has a 3.18 ERA in five starts this season.
- Ryan Smith sits with a 1.99 ERA in 11 appearances. He has two saves, a win and has struck out 25 hitters in 22 2/3 innings.
- The Big Green are 13-8 this season. Dartmouth has taken down Eastern Michigan, St. Bonaventure, No. 17 Miami (twice), The Citadel (twice), Chicago, Southern Maine, No. 26 UCF (twice).
- In Ivy play, Dartmouth swept Columbia on the road before earning a split at Penn last weekend.
- The Big Green is hitting .300 as a team with four starters reaching that benchmark. Matt Feinstein leads the squad at .375. He has 17 RBI, 12 runs scored and six doubles.
- Michael Ketchmark sits with an impressive .350/.454/.575 slash line. He's the Ivy League leader in total bases (46) and walks (16) and is the conference's top ten in home runs (three), hits (28), doubles (seven), triples (1), RBI (17), batting average, on-base and slugging percentage.
- Beau Sulser is the Big Green's top starter with 1.59 ERA in three starts. He has 23 strikeouts in 17 innings.
- Chris Burkholder is Dartmouth's closer, sitting with a 1.69 ERA in 10 appearances. He has 20 strikeouts in 16 frames along with six saves.
- The Crimson are 11-12 in 2017 with victories over Lafayette (twice), Coppin St. (twice), Jacksonville, Bucknell, UMass., and Army West Point.
- Harvard is 0-4 in the Ivy League, having been swept by Columbia and Penn., on the road.
- Patrick Robinson has a sparkling .406 batting average with 12 extra base hits and 19 runs scored.
- Matt Rothenberg (.340/.393/.480) and Patrick McColl (.339/.493/.554) are also standout hitters for Harvard. The two have combined for 14 extra base hits and 30 RBI.
- Ian Miller has been the Crimson's ace as he sits with a 2.92 ERA in 37 innings. Miller has four complete games and has 27 punch outs.
