March 03, 2017 | Women's Ice Hockey
POTSDAM, N.Y. (3/3/17) - Freshmen Carly Bullock was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year and freshman Steph Neatby was named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year it was announced at the annual ECAC Hockey women's banquet this evening.
Senior Kelsey Koelzer, a finalist for Best Defender of the Year, and sophomore Karlie Lund, a finalist for Best Forward of the Year, were both named second-team All-ECAC.
Bullock, the Rookie of the Year, was also named to the All-Rookie Team. She enters the weekend with 20 goals and 10 assists in 32 games. She is fifth in the nation in points per game for a freshman (0.94) and ranks 38th overall. Bullock has scored six game-winning goals this season, which ranks seventh in the nation and with six power play-goals she has the fourth most in the NCAA. In addition, she ranks 11th in the nation in goals per game (0.62). Bullock has a +23 on-ice rating and has recorded 23 blocks.
She net two hat tricks this season, her first on Jan. 1 when she scored all three goals in a 3-2 win over No. 8 Quinnipiac. The second was against another nationally-ranked squad, No. 9 Colgate. Bullock's two other three-point games also came against top-ranked opponents - when she had a goal and two assists in a 7-2 win over No. 5 Colgate on Nov. 18 and two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win at No. 3 St. Lawrence on Feb. 12. The ECAC Rookie of the Month in February, Bullock has been named the Rookie of the Week five times and Player of the Week once.
Bullock follows teammate Karlie Lund as the second consecutive Tiger to win Rookie of the Year honors, and is the fourth Tiger to win the award in program history, joining Gina Pietrangelo '87 and Annie Greenwood '09.
Neatby, who was also a finalist for Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, was named to both the first-team and the all-rookie team Steph Neatby made her first career start on Nov. 26 at Boston University. Following that game, she led Princeton to an 11-game unbeaten streak. Since that time she earned ECAC Goalie of the Week honors six times, Rookie of the Week honors once, was the ECAC Goalie of the Month in both December and January and was the first ever Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Month in January. Neatby ranks second in the nation in both save percentage and goals against average. She has a 1.38 goals against average and a .953 save percentage making 530 save this season. She owns a 12-4-1 record and posted shutouts against Rensselaer, Dartmouth, and No. 10 Quinnipiac twice. Against ranked opponents Neatby has posted a 6-2 record.
She stopped 30 or more shots in seven games this year. This past Friday during the ECAC Quarterfinals she set the program record for saves in a game, stopping 60 shots in a triple overtime game versus Quinnipiac. She erases a 20+ year record, held by Susan Gouchoe since Nov. 1985 when she had 58 against New Hampshire. Neatby's 60 saves are the second most saves by a Princeton goalie in either program, behind Walter McDonough's 61 from a game versus RPI in 1984.
