Harris and Ratcliffe Have Record Setting Weekend

Princeton Invite Results l Va Tech Challenge Results
Senior Julia Ratcliffe threw a school record in the weight throw as she won the event at the Princeton Invitational this afternoon at Jadwin Gym. She launched the weight to 20.13 (66-0.5) on her third attempt – the first Tiger ever to clear 20 meters. Ratcliffe was further than 19 meters on three other attempts, hitting 19.45 and 19.89 on her first two throws and 19.07 on throw four. Ratcliffe's throw is the 24th best throw in the nation this season. Ratcliffe already owned the Princeton record in the event with a previous best of 19.95 (65-5) in 2015.
Ratcliffe's big throw came one day after senior Allison Harris set the program and Ivy League record in the pole vault at 4.27 (14-0) at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Like Ratcliffe, Harris already owned the school record with a previous best of 4.20 from last year. Harris cleared 3.97 and 4.07 in her first attempts, 4.17 on her second attempt and then 4.27 on just her second attempt. That mark ranks her ninth nationally.
Freshman Devon Block-Funkhouser won the 500 with a PR of 1:17.46, while posting splits of 43.81 and 33.66. Sophomore Allison Glossinger was third at 1:20.22 (45.63, 34.60) and junior Maddie Baron was fourth at 1:21.64 (45.06, 36.59).
Another PR came from sophomore Ashley Reed in the 400. She was third in the event at 58.31, with splits of 27.51 and 30.80.
Princeton seniors Maria Seykora and Jessica Ackerman went 1-2 in the mile. Seykora ran 5:02 while Ackerman was right behind at 5:02.64.
Princeton went 1-2 in the 60-meter hurdles with junior Maia Craver taking the win at 8.74 just nudging Sophomore Ellie Randolph at 8.75. Craver then took third in the long jump at 5.36 (17-7). Senior Ariel Becker reached 5.29 (17-4.25) on her final jump to take fifth.
Sophomore Christina Walter was the runner-up in the 60-meter dash at 7.72. She qualified for the six-person final with a 7.79 I the prelims.
Sophomore Anna Jurew was the runner-up in the 800 at 2:14.11 (32.25, 32.82, 33.67, 35.38).
Freshman Hadley Wilhoite was the runner-up in the high jump. She cleared 1.65 (5-5) on her third and final attempt. Sophomore Frances Lodge was fifth at 1.55 (5-1) making it over that height on her second try.
Seniors Sydney Hausman and Alexandra Lanzafame went 3-4 in the triple jump. Hausman jumped to 10.87 (35-8) on her first jump and found 10.77 (35-4) on her second. Lanzafame's best jump was her last as she hit 10.70 (35-1.25), though her other jumps of 10.66 and 10.60 would have placed her fourth as well.
Sophomore Kennedy O'Dell was third in the shot put and in the weight throw. Her best throw in the shot fell at 13.15 (43-1.75), while her best throw in the weight was her last at 17.98 (59-0).
Senior Melinda Renuart was fifth but had the fastest collegiate time in the 3k at 10:13.83.
Princeton was the runner-up in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:05.12. The Tigers had the lead after 800 meters before slipping into second on the third leg.
Princeton competes for the Ivy title next weekend at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at The Armory.
