Brittany Ptak Named Ivy Volleyball, Suburban Transit Princeton Athlete Of The Week
September 26, 2016 | Women's Volleyball
Two days after a career effort in the Palestra led the Princeton women's volleyball team to a 1-0 start in the Ivy League, senior co-captain Brittany Ptak earned a pair of honors Monday. The two-time All-Ivy League middle blocker was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, as well as the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by Suburban Transit.
Ptak recorded 21 kills and a pair of blocks in the 21-25, 25-11, 25-15, 22-25, 15-5 victory at Penn Saturday night in the Ivy opener for both teams. The 21 kills was a career best for Ptak, who hit .625 during the match. Ptak now ranks second in the Ivy League in kills (3.3 per set) and third in hitting percentage (.409), and she has helped Princeton win five straight matches heading into its home debut against reigning Ivy co-champion Harvard Friday night.
"Brittany had a fantastic match, but we have come to expect her high level of production this year especially," head coach Sabrina King said. "She knows how to score in tough situations, and her leadership shone through in an up-and-down five-set match."
You can watch both matches this weekend (Harvard • Friday, 7 pm; Dartmouth • Saturday, 5 pm) on the Ivy League Digital Network.
