Sucharda & Neatby Named to Canadian U22 Team

CALGARY, ALBERTA (8/14/16) - Rising sophomore Stephanie Sucharda and incoming freshman Steph Neatby of the Princeton women's hockey team were both named to Canada's National Women's Development Team it was announced by Hockey Canada this afternoon.
The 23-player squad will debut the new Team Canada jersey for the first time as it plays a three-game series with the United States in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre from Aug. 14-21. This will pit Sucharda and Neatby against fellow Tiger Kelsey Koelzer who was named to US roster earlier today.
The team was selected after Hockey Canada National Teams' Summer Showcase, along with an U18 Team.
Neatby is a former member of the U18 team that won a silver medal at the 2016 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. A two-sport athlete, Neatby plays both hockey and lacrosse and plans to play both at Princeton. A former member of Toronto Junior Aeros (PWHL), Neatby posted recorded 14 shutouts, a 0.80 goals against average and a .954 save percentage this season when the Aeros won the league and Provincial championship.
An ECAC All-Rookie Team selection, Sucharda played in all 33 games as a freshman defender. An honorable mention All-Ivy League selection, Sucharda collected 17 points on 14 assists and three goals. She blocked 47 shots and took 54, finishing with a +7 on-ice rating as the Tigers skated to the Ivy League title and an NCAA tournament berth. Sucharda is also a former member of the Canadian U18 squad.

Following the series, Hockey Canada scouts, along with the team's coaching staff, will continue to evaluate players with their club teams during the 2016-17 season, in preparation for selecting the Canadian team that will compete at the 2017 Nations Cup in Germany next January, as well as for possible invites to camps and events with Canada's National Women's Team.
