Both Princeton Teams Post Top-5 Swims, Ready For Strong Finish At Bruno Invitational
December 04, 2016 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
COMPLETE MEET RESULTS
Both the Princeton men's and women's teams completed Day 2 of the Bruno Invitational Sunday and had several strong evening swims throughout a competitive finals session. The Tigers head into Sunday's final session trailing only host Brown, and well ahead of the likes of Dartmouth, Rutgers, and Rider.
The Princeton men claimed the only victory of the night in the final event, as the quartet of Ben Schafer, Murphy McQuet, Julian Mackrel and Cole Buese claimed a win in the 800 free relay in 6:33.79. Schafer also provided one of two runner-up individual finishes for the men, as he took second in the 100 fly in 47.60. One event earlier, two-time NCAA qualifier Corey Okubo finished second in the 400 IM in 3:53.86.
On the women's side, the underclassmen continued to impress. In four of the five individual finals, a freshman or sophomore was Princeton's top finisher. Among those were freshman Christie Chong, who took second in the 100 back (55.59), and sophomore Isabel Reis, who finished fourth in the 100 fly (54.99).
The final day of competition will be Sunday, with the preliminary session beginning at 10 am, and the finals starting at 5 pm.
