Knee Injury Sidelines Brase for Season
December 11, 2016 | Men's Basketball
A knee injury forward Hans Brase suffered during the men's basketball team's Nov. 29 game at VCU has forced the senior to end his Princeton playing career.
"Hans did everything he could to fight back from his injury and get healthy for this season. It is very difficult to go through a season-ending knee injury once, let alone to have it happen twice," Mitch Henderson, the Franklin C. Cappon-Edward G. Green '40 head coach of Princeton men's basketball, said. "This is very tough for him and it's hard to see him have to deal with this again. But Hans is such a large part of our team and our culture. And I look forward to him continuing to be a part of this team as we pursue our goals."
Â
Brase took the 2015-16 school year off from Princeton due to another injury to his right knee and retained a year of eligibility that he began to use this season. Through his five games this fall, Brase averaged 6.4 points a game and shot .500 both from the field (11-22) and from 3-point range (5-10) while finishing 5 for 5 at the free-throw line.
Â
Brase's Princeton career finishes with 863 points and a 9.3 per-game average while also grabbing 5.7 rebounds a game. After continuing with the team the rest of the season in a senior leadership role, he will graduate this spring with a degree in sociology.
