Prudil Nets Game-Tying Goal in Season Finale at Yale
November 12, 2016 | Men's Soccer
Sophomore Bryan Prudil's first career goal was the equalizer as the Princeton men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Yale in the 2016 regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Reese Stadium.
The goal came off of a Henry Martin throw-in, as senior Greg Seifert headed the ball into the right corner for sophomore Sean McSherry. McSherry crossed the ball to the left side where Prudil got to the ball before goalkeeper Andrew Bortey could get there and popped it into the corner in the 24th minute.
Nicky Downs put Yale on the board first in the 16th minute when he put away a Cameron Riach cross. Riach was running down the right flank and crossed the ball to the left side to Downs for the goal.
Freshman Jacob Schachner made two saves in his second career start, as Princeton outshot Yale 23-11.
Bortey made three saves on four shots before Kees Schipper came in on relief and made five saves.
Princeton closes the season with a 7-7-3 record and 1-3-3 mark in the Ivy League. Seifert finished as the league's leading scorer with 26 points, six more than any other player in the league, on 11 goals and four assists.
