Women's Hockey Holds Year-End Banquet

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/15) - The Princeton women's hockey team held its annual team banquet Saturday night at the Nassau Inn in Princeton. The team handed out its five yearly awards and honored its senior class of Ali Pankowski, Brianna Leahy, Ashley Holt and Brianne Mahoney.
The Patty Kazmaier Award was presented to co-captain Ali Pankowski. It is given annually to the senior member of the women's hockey team who has made the greatest contribution to the program during her career and best exemplifies the following characteristics: Loyalty and devotion to Princeton Women's Hockey and determination and perseverance under adverse conditions. Pankowski played in all 31 games and collected 12 points on three goals and nine assists. She caps her career with 48 points (14g, 34a) and 182 PIMs in 122 games.
Junior Jaimie McDonell was the recipient of the Elizabeth English Trophy. The English Trophy is presented annually to the member of the women's hockey team, voted by her teammates to be the most valuable player. It is named in honor of Elizabeth English '75, whose efforts helped to establish women's ice hockey at Princeton. A second-team All-Ivy League selection, McDonell finished third on the team in scoring with 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists.
The Rookie of the Year Award was given to Kiersten Falck. Falck finished her freshman campaign with 15 points on 13 assist and two goals.
Captains for the 2015-16 season were also announced. Cristin Shanahan will wear the "C" while Molly Contini and McDonell will be alternate captains.
Princeton went 15-14-2 this season, finished sixth in the ECAC with a 13-8-1 record and second in the Ivy League at 7-2-1. Two members of the team were named all-ECAC Hockey and four were named All-Ivy League, in addition to head coach Jeff Kampersal earning the inaugural Ivy League Coach of the Year honor.
