Men's Soccer Ties Brown 1-1 on the Road

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (10/7/15) - Brown scored the equalizer in the 86th minute as the Princeton men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with the Bears on Saturday night on Stevenson Field.
The two teams have played to overtime in four of the last five meetings.
A foul called on senior Thomas Sanner for "around the back" occurred in front of the Princeton bench. Despite a protest, the call stood and goalkeeper Erik Hanson took the restart. A short ball was played to Louis Zingas who launched the ball into the 18-yard box where nearly every player was positioned. Jack Hagstrom got a header on the ball and the knocked it into the right corner.
Princeton dominated the game, outshooting Brown, 25-13 and took 11 corner kicks to Brown's six.
Sanner scored his seventh goal of the season in the 28th minute. Classmate Brendan McSherry sent a ball into the box and as it bounced around Hanson made a play for it, launching himself into the air and falling into Sanner. Sanner settled the ball with his feet and scored on the open net.
Each team put one shot on goal in the two 10-minute overtimes, with Princeton taking three times as many shots, 6-2.
Senior Ben Hummel made six saves in goal while Hanson made six on the opposite end.
Princeton is now 4-3-2 on the season and 0-1-1 in the Ivy League.
The Tigers return to Princeton for a three-game home stretch, beginning with Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Game time is at 7 p.m. Princeton then hosts Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 17 and West Virginia on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
