Newell and Morey Called Upon by Hockey Canada

CALGARY (9/22/14) - Junior Kimberly Newell and assistant coach Cara Morey of the Princeton women's hockey team have been called upon by Hockey Canada to attend the 2014 National Women's Team Fall Festival.
The National Women's Team Fall Festival takes place Sept. 22-26 at WinSport's Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
The 58 players invited to attend with be split into three teams, Black, Red and White for practices and intrasquad games.
The camp will serve as an important evaluation opportunity for Canada's National Women's team coaching staff. Following the Fall Festival, the players will be monitored at international events as well as with their teams during the 2014-15 season, to help in the selection of the team that will represent Canada at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship in Malmö, Sweden, next April.Newell and Morey, who is an assistant coach with the team, both participated in the Development Team selection camp in August.Newell earned a gold medal with the Canadian U-18 team at the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship. She recorded her first international shutout against Finland in Dec. 2012. In her career at Princeton she has a .911 save percentage, a 2.79 GAA and a total of 21 30+ save performances.The Princeton women's hockey team opens the 2014-15 season at Penn State on Oct. 26 & 27.
