Princeton men’s water polo sophomore Drew Hoffenberg has been selected to represent the United States at the 19th World Maccabiah Games from July 18-30 in Israel.
The Maccabiah Games is the third-largest international sporting event in the world, drawing more than 7,000 athletes representing 60 countries.
Hoffenberg has been the Tigers’ offensive leader of the past two seasons and was recently named co-captain for the upcoming 2013 campaign. A two-time ACWPC All-America, the attacker scored a team-leading 63 goals for eighth-best in a single season in program history, while adding 65 steals and 33 assists last season. Over his career, he has scored 110 goals to rank 10th all-time.
In 2012, Hoffenberg was named All-Southern First Team and Eastern All-Tournament Second Team. As a freshman, he was tabbed the Eastern Championship MVP and named to the first team, along with garnering NCAA All-Tournament and All-Southern Second Team honors.
