Princeton men’s tennis coach Billy Pate has announced the addition of Thomas Colautti, Alexander Day and Joshua Yablon, who have accepted admission to Princeton and will enroll this fall.

“We could not be more excited to welcome three outstanding young men to Princeton University and our tennis program," Pate said. "Each of them has achieved national recognition in tennis while possessing tremendous upside in terms of the value they will add to the team. Not only are they talented players, but each of them represents the type of character we want representing the Princeton Tiger tennis program. We expect each of them to make significant contributions early in their career.”

Colautti, of London, England, recently achieved his highest world junior ranking of No. 95 following a semifinal showing at a grade 2 International Tennis Federation (ITF) event in Donetsk, Ukraine. Colautti has also won one ITF singles championship along with five championships in doubles. In the British junior national championships, Colautti was a singles semifinalist and is considered one of the top junior players in the United Kingdom. He currently attends the Reed’s School, a private boarding school where former ATP great Tim Henman attended.

“Thomas is a tremendously savvy and well-rounded player," Pate said. "He has extensive international experience and will certainly offer a great degree of maturity that is not often found with incoming freshmen. He has steadily improved his international ranking and is certainly one of the best prospects in the U.K. We expect him to make an immediate impact in our lineup.”

Yablon, of New York, N.Y. is a "blue chip" recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net and achieved a ranking of No. 25 in the nation in August 2012. Yablon has been ranked as the No. 1 player in the USTA Eastern Section on several occasions. Additionally, Yablon has earned a sixth-place finish at the USTA Winter Supernationals and was a quarterfinalist in doubles at the USTA National Clay Courts. He attends Columbia Prep High School in New York.

“Joshua is an absolute warrior and we saw that repeatedly during the many times we watched him compete," Pate said. "He represents the type of feisty and gritty determination we want on the court for Princeton. We expect great things during his career and he’ll have a chance to impact our team greatly during his freshman year.”

Day, of Vancouver, B.C. is the boys 18 singles champion in British Columbia and was a doubles finalist at the boys 18 Canadian national championships. Day has achieved a Canadian national ranking of No. 3 in singles (2012) and is currently the No. 1 seed in doubles and No. 2 seed in singles in the Canadian national championships taking place this week in Markham, Ont. Day has also earned two career ITF singles titles along with one ITF doubles title. Day is captain of his high school team, St. George’s School in Vancouver, and he has been an Honours with Distinction student. He competed in soccer and tennis equally until age 14 and was a member of the Vancouver Selects.

“Alexander is an athletic and offensively explosive player," Pate said. "Having a background in elite level soccer has enhanced his movement and athletic instincts on the court. Alexander is improving rapidly and in the past year he has become one of the top national players in Canada. We are very excited to see his career flourish.”
