HANOVER, N.H. (1/12/13) - Sophomore Brianna Leahy scored twice for the Princeton women's hockey team but the Tigers couldn't stop Dartmouth's Camille Dumais who had a natural hat trick in the second period to lead the Big Green to a 6-2 win on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Thompson Arena.
The score was tied 2-2 when Dumais tallied three straight to give her team a 5-2 edge at the second intermission.
Sasha Nanji opened the game with an unassisted goal at 3:32. The Tigers capitalized on their second power-play opportunity as Leahy was set up by junior Gabie Figueroa and Maddie Peake at 17:52.
Reagan Fischer net a second unassisted goal to give Dartmouth a short-lived lead at 4:00, as Leahy matched the goal 44 seconds later. Figueroa again earned the first assist, with freshman Ali Pankowski receiving the secondary.
Dumais scored three goals in a span of 6:02, the first on a 5x4 man-advantage, the second even strength and the third on a 5x3 opportunity.
Catherine Berghuis had an insurance goal six minutes into the third period, the only goal of the final grame.
Ashley Holt made her third start of the season and played all 60 minutes, making a career-high 30 saves. Princeton is now 6-12-2 on the season and 2-10-2 in the ECAC.
Lindsay Holdcroft made 19 saves for Dartmouth, as the Big Green outshot the Tigers, 36-21. Dartmouth improves to 11-5-2 overall and 6-4-1 in league play.
Princeton will take a two-week break for exams and semester break. The Tigers return on Tuesday, Jan. 29 when they travel to Penn State for a 7 p.m., game.
