HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/3/12) - The Princeton women's hockey team rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to forge a 3-3 tie at Colgate on Saturday afternoon. Sally Butler's second goal of the game midway through the third period drew the Tigers even in the deadlock.

Princeton earned its first point of the ECAC season following the tie after dropping its first three league games of the campaign. Princeton is now 2-3-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the ECAC.

Colgate's Brittany Phillips gave her team a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal late in the first period and an even strength tally early in the second period. The Tigers got on the scoreboard at 12:03 of the second period when Denna Laing netted her first goal of the season with an assist from Corey Stearns. The Tigers drew even just 31 seconds later when Butler scored at 12:34

The teams headed into the third period even at 2-2 but Mirian Drubel gave Colgate a 3-2 lead with a shorthanded goal 49 seconds into the third period but an unassisted power-play marker from Butler at 9:55 turned out to be the game-tying goal. Butler now has four goals this season.

Colgate outshot Princeton 25-24 in the game. Kimberly Newell made 22 saves for the Tigers, including four in overtime, while Ashlynne Rando stopped 21 Princeton shots.

The Tigers visit Rensselaer and Union next weekend.
