PRINCETON, N.J. (5/15/09) – The 2009 ECAC and IC4A
Track and Field Championship got underway today, Friday, May 5th at Weaver
Stadium. The Princeton teams each had an
athlete qualify for the NCAA Regionals after the first day.
Sophomore Ashley Higginson won the 5000-meter run with a season-best
time of 16:37.76. This is the third time Higginson has run the 5000 this season
and the third time she has qualified for the NCAA Regional.
Senior Jolee VanLeuven took 10th in the event coming in at
17:07.86 while junior Alexa Glencer posted a time of 17:33.12.
In the steeplechase, sophomore Liz Deir clocked in at 10:59.50.
Freshman Donn Cabral qualified for the NCAA Regional in the
5000-meter run after taking seventh place with a time of 14:08.48. Classmate
Brian Leung and senior Cameron Marantz also competed in the event, clocking in
at 14:15.72 and 14:27.55, respectively. The times for all three runners are
personal bests.
In the discus, sophomore George Abyad finished ninth with a
throw of 49.25 meters.
