ORLANDO, Fla. (3/23/09) – The Princeton women’s relay teams earned four first-place finishes at the Walt Disney World Invitational on March 18-21 at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
The 4x200, 4x1500, 4x100 shuttle hurdle and the 1600 sprint medley all landed in the top spot.
The 4x200 of seniors Agatha Offorjebe and Karen Okigbo, and freshmen Eileen Moran and Sarah Houtmann had a time of 1:41.38, while sophomores Libby Bliss and Brooke Russell, seniors Jolee VanLeuven and Alexe Smith brought the 4x1500 in at 18:38.48.
The 1600 sprint medley clocked in at 4:11.53, nine seconds faster than the next competitor. The 4x100 meter shuttle hurdle of sophomores Lauren Barber, Bianca Mathabane, KC Wade and freshman Melissa Tassone finished in 1:01 flat.
The 4x100 took second with a time of 48.05, just .05 seconds behind the first-place group.
Princeton’s hurdles finished 4-6 in the 100-meter hurdles with Mathabane leading the back with a time of 14.98. Barber and Wade followed at 15.46 and 15.59, respectively.
The Tigers took places 3-7 in the 10,000-meter run. VanLeuven earned the bronze medal with a time of 38:07.69. Sophomore Ashley Higginson, junior Reilly Kiernan, sophomore Sarah Cummings, junior Alexa Glencer all finished between 38:07.88 and 38:07.74
Senior Emma Giunipero was the lone field event competitor. She finished in second place in the discus with a throw of 38.05 meters.
Princeton will host the Sam Howell Invitational on April 3-4.
