Release: 05/03/2008

The fifth-ranked Princeton open women swept George Washington in a trio of races to improve to 9-2 overall and head into the postseason with a three-race win streak. The win also marked a successful home finale for the Princeton Class of 2008, including Elizabeth Agnew and Kristin Haraldsdottir, members of the 2006 Eastern and NCAA championship teams.

Princeton was a dominant squad Saturday, winning all three races comfortably. The first varsity finished in 6:53.3, more than 40 seconds ahead of the Colonials. The second varsity finished in 7:12.3 and the first novice, which also competed in the 2V race, finished in 7:18.6. A mix of the novice four and the lightweight novice four competed as an 8+ in the novice race, and that team won with a time of 7:41.1.

The Tiger women will head to Cooper River in Camden, N.J., for the Eastern Championships May 18 and then will compete for their second NCAA title in three years May 30-June 1 in Sacramento. Princeton won both titles with its magical 2006 squad and put forth strong performances last year to reach the grand final in each. GoPrincetonTigers.com will have full previews for both competitions.
