Second-place finishes for the Princeton men's heavyweight and men's lightweight crews and a third-place finish for the open women highlighted the Tigers' weekend at the Princeton Chase, held Sunday, Oct. 26 at Lake Carnegie.

The lightweight men, coming off their victory at the fall-opening Head of the Charles, finished in 13:32.50, .2 of a second behind Yale. The lightweight freshmen finished in 14:19.34, also less than a second behind the winning time from Harvard. The varsity four edged out Harvard in 15:26.78.

"It was some solid racing on the lightweight side," Princeton head coach Greg Hughes said. "It was tight between us and Yale in the 8. They got us by a little over one second. We won the 4 by a little over a second over Harvard and we won the small boats race. It looks like it is going to be another tight spring season."

The heavyweight men put an A and B boat in the varsity competition, and it was the B boat that nearly took the win. Its time of 13:19.26 finished just short of Yale, while the Princeton A boat finished sixth in 13:36.98. The heavyweight four also put two boats in the Top 10, while the heavyweight freshmen finished second in 14.19.27.

The varsity women placed third in 15:18.20, less than a second behind the winning time of Yale. The novice women placed 10th in 17:56.98.
