Head coach Paul Rassam believed his Princeton women's lightweight crew had made good progress during the season-opening Pac-Ten Challenge last weekend, and he was pleased once again when his squad returned to the east coast. Princeton swept a pair of races against MIT to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The varsity eight, which improved its win streak to three following wins over California and Stanford last weekend, won its race in 7:16.6, while MIT finished second in 7:30.4. The varsity four also had a strong showing, winning in 8:04.4, while the MIT 4A placed second in 8:14.2.
"Mike Lucey is doing a really good job of developing our V4, and it showed today," Rassam said. "They rowed a solid, consistent race under tough conditions. We expect good things out of this boat all year."
Princeton will travel to Bucknell next weekend before returning home for showdowns with Georgetown and Harvard.
