Eddy and Soloff Medal at Penn State National Open

COLLEGE PARK, Pa. (1/31/09) – Sophomores Mike Eddy and Kyle Soloff highlighted Princeton’s success at the Penn State National Open. Soloff took second in the 1,000 with a time of 2:27.23, while Eddy was third in the 500 meters, running in 1:04.76.

Junior Ben White also competed in the 1,000, while junior Brian Li-A-Ping and freshman Ricky Kearney ran alongside Eddy in the 500.

In the short sprints sophomore Meko McCray, freshman Adam Hyndman and junior Andrew Usoro ran in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash.

Senior Chris Vasich and sophomore Adam Thayer competed in the 60-meter hurdles, with Vasich reaching the semifinals with a finished of 8.28 seconds.

Senior Cameron Marantz, sophomore Zach Predmore and freshman Peter Maag competed in the 5000 meter run, with Marantz posting the best time, 14:47.35, for 10th place.

Senior Ian Thomson ran the 400 in 49.87, while freshman Joe Stilin and senior Peter Barlett were featured in the 3000. Stilin posted an eight-place time of 8:30.07

Junior Jordin Hill, senior Colin Plummer and sophomore Tony Salvatore ran in the 800 with Hill coming in at 1:54.74 for the best finish for the Tigers.

Freshman Sean Wilson, Max Kaulbach and sophomore Dennis Walsh all ran the mile. Kaulbach posted the better of the three times, at 4:15.70.

The 4x400 relay team earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 3:17.61, and the 4x800 was the 10th team across the line at 7:51.34

High jumpers Justin Frick and Ian Fox finished in fourth and sixth place. Frick reached 2.11 meters, while Fox turned in a 2.06-meter jump.

Sophomore Dion Lehman and junior Scott Henkelman face off in the long jump, with Lehamn taking eighth place with a leap of 7.07 meters. Sophomore Garner McCloud was the lone representative in the triple jump, posting a leap of 12.78 meters.

Junior Chad Faulkner and freshmen Dave Slovenski and Derek Hynes entered the pole vault. Faulker and Slovenski each reached heights of 4.85 meters to finish in seventh and ninth, respectively.

Princeton hosts its own invitational next weekend at Jadwin Gym, beginning at 11 a.m., on Saturday. Selected members of the team will compete at the new Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.
