The Tigers fell behind after Syracuse scored nine straight goals in the second and third quarters.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Cody Jamieson and the No. 3 Syracuse men's lacrosse team made sure there would be no repeat of last year's Konica Minolta Big City Classic in which Princeton knocked off the defending and soon-to-be back-to-back NCAA champion Orange at the now-vacant Giants Stadium.

In the second edition of the lacrosse tripleheader event, the stadium changed a little bit and the score changed a lot, with Syracuse scoring nine straight goals, including four by Jamieson, between the second and third quarters to silence the Tigers 13-4.

No. 4/5 Princeton hung with the Orange early, but Scott MacKenzie was the only Tiger to solve Syracuse goalie John Galloway and only once. Princeton cut the Syracuse lead to 3-2 on Mike Chanenchuk's goal against Orange backup Al Cavalieri, in while Galloway served a penalty, with 9:26 to play in the second quarter.

The one-goal deficit lasted all of six seconds. Jamieson scored the first of his four goals, and another from Tim Desko followed 13 seconds after that, getting Syracuse started. By the time the Orange were done, the lead was 12-2 as the third quarter came to a close.

Chanenchuk added another in the fourth quarter before Forest Sonnenfeldt scored inside of two minutes to go for the final goal.

Following a matchup of teams whose only losses were by one goal, Princeton's to North Carolina and Syracuse's to Virginia, the Tigers to 7-2 on the season while the Orange are 8-1. Princeton will have to wait just three days before trying to get back on the winning side when Rutgers visits the Class of 1952 Stadium at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
