For the third straight year, the host school has rowed away with the Carnegie Cup. One year after Princeton regained the trophy from Yale atop Lake Carnegie, the upstart Cornell Big Red defeated both programs to win the Carnegie Cup on Cayuga Inlet.

Cornell, the highest-ranked program in the field at No. 9, won the first varsity race in 5:47.7, while the 12th-ranked Yale Bulldogs finished second in 5:53.6. Princeton, which is ranked 14th and is trying to get through a tough April, placed third in 5:56.9.

The Tiger 2V nearly pulled off an exciting win, but the Big Red managed a win there as well. Cornell won in 5:47.8, half a second ahead of Princeton's second-place time of 5:48.3. Yale finished third in 6:00.1. The Tiger 3V had an even closer loss, although it came for second place in its race. Cornell finished first in the 3V in a time of 6:04.0, while Yale placed second in 6:11.7, just .1 of a second ahead of Princeton.

The Princeton freshman boat placed third behind Yale (5:52.7) and Cornell (5:52.9) in a time of 6:00.1. 

Princeton will try to end its skid next weekend in its home finale against Brown for the Content Cup.
