Women's Hoops Looks For Third Staight Win on Saturday Against Delaware

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/19/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team will be seeking its third straight win as it hosts Delaware on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. It will be the second game in a doubleheader with the men's team, which hosts Army at 2 p.m.

The game will be webstreamed live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv for subscribers. Fans can also follow the action on live stats and listen to the play-by-play called by Derek Jones. Links to video, audio and stats can be found above and on the women's basketball schedule page.

Delaware owns a 14-5 record in the all-time series, which dates back to 1983. Although the two teams haven't met since 2001, the Blue Hens are on a six-game winning streak. Princeton's last win was a 62-45 game on Dec. 7, 1995

Princeton is off to a 2-0 start this season, after taking down Stony Brook 68-43 in the season opener and posting a 77-45 win over American in the home opener on Monday night. Freshman Niveen Rasheed, the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, averages 18.0 points per game and leads the team under the basket with seven boards per game. She has a team-high eight assists and four steals. Junior Addie Micir is contributing 14.0 points per game, going 8-for-16 from long range. Sophomore Devona Allgood is adding 6.0 rebounds per game had a team-high three blocks, and teammate Lauren Edwards is chipping in 11 points and 5 rebounds per game. As a team, the Tigers are shooting 47.4 percent from the floor, and have added 14 of 31 three-pointers for 45.2 percent. The team has hit 21 of its 31 free throws for 67.7 percent.

Delaware opened its season with a 77-64 win over St. Francis on the road on Tuesday night. Three Blue Hens posted double-digit point totals, including freshman forward/guard Elena Delle Donne, who tallied 19 points. She also led the team with five assists and two blocks, while pulling down seven rebounds in her first collegiate action. She was supported by sophomore guard Jocelyn Bailey, who recorded 15 points and added seven rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Corinthia Benison rounded out the offensive stalwarts, draining 10 points on 3-for-3 shooting. The team shot .500 from the floor and from the three-point line. The Blue Hens went 24-for-31 from the floor, for 77.4 percent.
