Women's Track & Field Wins 13 Events and Team Title at Disney Invitational

ORLANDO (3/22/14) - The Princeton women’s track & field won the Walt Disney World Track & Field Open with 13 total wins, in the team's first competition of the outdoor season.

Tigers won seven individual events including: sophomore Inka Busack (high jump), senior Imani Oliver (triple jump), sophomore Brielle Rowe (discus), sophomore Julia Ratcliffe (hammer), senior Samantha Anderson (shot put), sophomore Meghan McMullin (400 hurdles), freshman Megan Curham (10k).

Princeton also won every relay it entered, including the 4x100 (47.80), 4x200 (1:41.46), 4x800 (8:56.57), 4x1500 (18:56.63), sprint medley (4:06.29) and the distance medley (11:45.95).

The team finished with 271 points to claim the title, with Wisconson second with 130 points.

Busack won the high jump clearing nearly four inches more than the next jumper, at 1.68 (5-6). Sophomore Moran Taylor tied for second at 1.58 (5-2.25).

Oliver won her main event, the triple jump, as she launched to 12.65 (41-6). Freshman Alex Lanzafame was fourth at 10.67 (35-00.25). Oliver was the runner-up in the long jump at 5.43 (17-9.75), a distance she made on her final jump. Sophomores Sara Ronde and Busack were fifth and sixth at 5.27 (17-3.50) and 5.26 (17-3.25). Lanzafame was also a scorer placing eighth at 4.91 (16-1.50).

Anderson claimed the win in the shot put with a throw of 11.85 (38-10.50). She went on to place third in the pole vault clearing 3.85 on her first attempt. Freshman Lauren Santi was fourth in the vault reaching 3.10 (10-2).

Rowe won the discus by a difference of 10 feet. She threw to 40.27 (132-01) for the win. Senior Chelsea Cioffi was third with a toss of 35.92 (117-10).

The final win of the field events was Ratcliffe in the hammer. She threw to 62.97 (206-07), more than 40 feet further than the next best competitor. Rowe was third at 43.92 (144-01) and Cioffi was fourth at 43.88 (143-11).

Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 10k with freshman Megan Curham leading the pack at 35:30.75. Sophomore Kathryn Fluehr was second at 36:02.54 and senior Marissa Cummings third at 36:37.00.

The Tigers went 1-2-3 in the 400 hurdles with sophomore Meghan McMullin leading the charge with a 1:00.89. Junior Kim Mackay was second at 1:02.85 and senior Beth McKenna was third at 1:06.01. McKenna was the top Tiger in the 100 hurdles, placing third at 14.37. Morgan was fourth at 14.95.

Junior Joanna Anyanwu was fourth in the 100 at 12.34 with senior Charquia Wright sixth at 12.36. Sophomore Sara Ronde also made the finals of the 100 out of the 25 in the prelims but did not compete in the final.

In the 400, senior Emily Broyles was the runner-up with a time of 58.64.

Princeton hosts its next three meets of the season, beginning with the Sam Howell Invitational on April 4-5.
