The undefeated Princeton wrestling team will look to extend its win streak to three when it makes its second trip to Binghamton in a month for a Saturday afternoon (1) dual match with the Bearcats.

Princeton (2-0) is coming off a sweep of both EIWA rivals Drexel and Army at the 2013 Grapple at the Garden last weekend. Sophomore heavyweight Cole Lampman clinched both victories with one-point wins; head coach Chris Ayres talks about Lampman’s performance, as well as a full update on the program, in the interview above. (Please note that the interview is not available if you receive this release via email; it must be accessed through GoPrincetonTigers.com)

The Tigers also got strong days from the freshman duo of Jordan Laster (133) and Brett Harner (174). Laster currently shares the team lead with 11 victories, while Harner was a finalist at the Navy Invitational and has 10 wins on the year. Both went unbeaten at Madison Square Garden, while classmate Matthew Gancayco picked up a win at 157.

The top freshman last season, Scott Gibbons, made his return last weekend and split a pair of matches at the Garden. He picked up a key win over Drexel, and classmate Abe Ayala had a crucial late win over Army that broke a 15-15 tie.

Princeton will try to build on that momentum Saturday when it heads to Binghamton, site of the season-opening Bearcat Open. Binghamton is 1-2 on the season, though it is coming off a victory over George Mason. The Bearcats have gotten a strong start from freshman Jack McKeever, who has 19 victories at 174 pounds.

Following the Binghamton match, Princeton will turn its full focus to the Dec. 14 “Celebration of New Jersey Wrestling,” when the Tigers welcome back all former New Jersey state champions during a 5 pm matchup with local rival Rutgers.

Any former state champions who would like to be involved in the event can register here.
