PRINCETON, N.J. (11/22/13) – The Princeton women’s hockey team’s five-game unbeaten streak came to an end Friday afternoon, as the Tigers lost to No. 8 Clarkson, 7-0 at Hobey Baker Rink.
The Golden Knights started their scoring just 29 seconds into the first period with a goal from Vanessa Gagnon, who would later register Clarkson’s sixth goal in the third period. Besides Gagnon, five other Golden Knights found the back of the net and eight players in all recorded at least one point.
Clarkson (12-3-2, 5-2-1 ECAC) raced out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the opening period before adding another tally in the middle period and two more in the third. The Golden Knights outshot the Tigers, 43-14.
Despite the loss, Princeton sophomore goaltender Kimberly Newell made 36 saves to establish a new season high.
The Tigers complete their five-game homestand Saturday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink, as Princeton (5-3-1, 4-3 ECAC) skates against St. Lawrence (5-7-1, 4-2-1 ECAC).
