Day 1 (11:47 pm): Austin Hollimon had a tough go in the men's 400 hurdles finished eighth in his heat at 54.82. Hollimon had been battling the flu all week and thought after his fever finally broke yesterday that he'd be recovered in time. Although disappointed, he hopes to get enough rest to be ready to go in the 4x400 tomorrow. Additionally, Trevor Van Ackeren '12 was 17th in the steeplechase semifinals racing for Texas. At the end of the day the current three Tigers were disappointed with how they performed today, but can only look ahead. Two race again tomorrow in the 4x400 and one has three more years in her collegiate career.

Day 1 (5:43 pm): Russell Dinkins finished fifth in heat 3 and 16th overall in the 800. His heat should have been the fastest of the day but it started out as the slowest. Dinkins said the pace threw him off a bit and he wasn't entirely pleased with his race today. He does earn second-team All-America honors. This is his fourth All-America honors - after winning the DMR indoor this year, as well as earning second-team honors in the 4x400 and honorable mention All-America in the 800 outdoors in 2011. Dinkins will compete in the 4x400 tomorrow night. One final Tiger competitor - Austin Hollimon in the 400 meter hurdles at 6:15 p.m. Well in reality it's two Tigers left today as Trevor Van Ackeren '12 competes in the steeplechase at 6:45 p.m. And if you haven't already, you should check out the Oregon/Pac12 Web stream of this meet. Day 1 (4:15 pm): It's opening day of the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships here in Tracktown USA (Eugene, Oregon). Weather this week is suppose to be superb and today is no exception, sunny and 82 degrees. Nice change from the 12 days of rain during the Olympic trials here last July. Julia Ratcliffe competed in the women's hammer throw, the first event of the championships. She finished 11th overall to earn second-team All-America honors in just her freshman year, although she is disappointed with the result. Check back later for a video interview with Ratcliffe and for more updates throughout the day.
