Princeton Invitational Marks Final Tune-Up Before Heps

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/15/13) - It's the final tune-up for the Princeton track & field teams as the Tigers host the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16, the final meet before the Ivy League Heptagonals.

Participating teams include: Bryn Mawr, CCNY, Cheyney, Delaware, Georgian Court, Kutztown, Lincoln (PA), Moravian, Penn, Ramapo, Shippensburg, Towson, Wheaton (MA) and of course the Princeton Tigers. Multiple track clubs will also be present.

The non-scored meet begins at 11 a.m., with the men's weight throw and men's long jump. The men's 60-meter trials kicks off the track events at noon.

At last year's meet, the Princeton men won five events, highlighted by a double win by Richard Sheldon '13.

Sheldon won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.10 with freshman Rob Mohr '15 second at 8.26. Sheldon also won the heptathlon, as the Tigers went 1-2-3 in the event. Sheldon collected 5,037 points with Mohr in second place with 4,811 and Brad Pelisek '14 third at 4,428.

Omar Jarrett '15 won the high jump clearing 1.98 meters (6-6). Derek Hynes '12 won the pole vault with a height of 4.80 (15-9), a mark he reached on his first attempt at that height. Dave Slovenski '12 was second with the same clearance, reached on his second attempt. Adam Bragg '15 tied for third at 4.65.Freshman Daniel McCord won the 200 cruising in at 22.33, his first career event win.

Ivan Charbonneau '12 and Tommaso Greenbaum '15 made the final of the 60. Charbonneau was third at 7.05 and Greenbaum fourth at 7.07.

Patrick Park '12 was the runner up in the shot put with a throw of 16.32 (53-6.50).

In the long jump, Tom Hopkins '14 finished third when he jumped to 7.33 (24-00.75) on his first try.

Princeton's 4x4 relay of Tom Scott, Nilan Schnure, Ricky Kearney and Mohr was second with a time of 3:21.21.

The women's team won three events last year.

Tory Worthen '13 won her fourth pole vault title of the season by clearing 3.96 (12-11.75). It was done on her first attempt at the height. Lydia Arias '12, Bianca Reo '12 and Lauren Tauscher '13 all tied for second with marks of 3.50 (11-5.75).

Also capturing a victory was Maggie McKeever '13 in the 800. McKeever clocked in a 2:15.86 a new personal best. Rachel Skokowski '15 was third at 2:19.88.

Erin Guty '13 was the runner up in the 200 with a time of 26.08 with Jasmine Blocker '14 finishing at 26.10 to take third place. Blocker was also the runner up in the 400 at 58.44, her best time of the season in the event.

Jackie Nicholas '15 placed third in the mile clocking in at 5:06.56.

Princeton had three participants in the indoor pentathlon. The trio went 1-2-3 with Beth McKenna '14 won the five-event combination with 3,229 points. Theresa Kennedy '14 and Samantha Anderson '14 followed with 3,121 and 3,045 points, respectively.
