Women's Track at Sykes & Sabock; Sends DMR to The Armory

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/1/13) - The Princeton women's track & field teams will compete at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday, Feb. 2 in a team-scored meet. In addition a relay team will compete at The Armory Collegiate Invitational on Friday, Feb. 1.

Sykes & Sabock kicks off at 9 a.m., with the weight throw and pentathlon.

Other competing teams include: Binghamton, Buffalo, Cornell, Jacksonville, James Madison, Liberty, Lock Haven, Penn, South Florida, UNC Wilmington and Virginia.

The women's team finished third at Sykes & Sabock last year.

Princeton earned 11 points in the 5k with Theresa Devine '14 finishing second at 17:03.05. Three other Tigers finished in the top 10.  Another 11 points came in the 600 as Andrea Keklak '15 finished third and two others scored. Greta Feldman '13 was the runner up in the mile, crossing the line at 4:52.33. Other scorers on the track included: Clare Gallagher '14 in the 3k, Alexis Mikaelian '13 in the 800 and Cecilia Barowski '15 in the 400.

Princeton put together its first distance medley relay team of the season and it was a winning combination of four freshmen. Jackie Nicholas, Emily de la Bruyere, Barowski and Keklak won the race at 11:48.05, edging the home team by three seconds with the rest of the squads nearly 30 seconds back.

The Tigers also got eight points in the field events. Tory Worthen '13 cleared 3.80 in the pole vault to finish fourth and Theresa Kennedy '14 in the high jump.


Armory Meet Info & Results

Mikaelian, Feldman, Barowski and Joie Hand '13 make up the DMR that will compete at the Armory on Friday at 6:49 p.m. They will face relays from Duke, Connecticut*, Villanova, Arkansas, LSU, Georgetown*, Florida*, Stanford* and Tennessee*. Five of those programs had relays in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the DMR last year, as noted.
