Women's Track & Field Looks for Fifth Straight HYP Win on Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/12/14) - The Princeton women's track & field team seeks its fifth straight HYP victory as the Tigers compete in the annual event at Coxe Cage at Yale University on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The women's team has won the last four HYP meets and eight of the last 10.The Tigers earned 79 points last year, with Harvard second with 55 and Yale third with 25 points.

Harvard led the meet during the first five events. Princeton and Harvard swapped the lead until the ninth event, the long jump. The Tigers scored 9.5 out of a possible 11 points in the long jump to take the lead and wouldn't give up the top spot throughout the rest of the meet.

Erin Guty scored in three events. She won the pivotal long jump while Sara Ronde and Theresa Kennedy finished second and third in the event. Guty also scored in the 60 and in the 200.

Princeton went 1-2-3 for 10 out of a possible 11 points in the 3,000. Emily de La Bruyere ran a PR of 9:31.47 to win the race, while Jackie Nicholas was second and Abby Levene was third.

Greta Feldman won the mile at 4:52.46 and was the runner-up in the 800 at 2:14.70. Alexis Mikaelian was second in the mile with a time of 4:55.42.

Another Tiger to record first and second-place finishes was Cecilia Barowski. Barowski won the 400 at 55.47 and was second in the 200 at 25.15.

Tory Worthen won the pole vault as she cleared 3.91, and Lauren Tauscher was third reaching 3.70.

In the triple jump, Imani Oliver picked up the win with a jump of 12.15. Taylor Morgan was third with a mark of 11.02 and was also the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.73.

Julia Ratcliffe was the runner-up in the weight throw, throwing to 19.74 on her second attempt.

Princeton also won both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
