Women's Track & Field in Second Place After Day 1 of Sykes-Sabock

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (2/7/14) - The Princeton women's track & field team is in second place after Day 1 at Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup.

The Tigers collected 47.5 points on the first day, getting 27 of those points in the 5,000.

Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 5k with freshman All-America Megan Curham winning the event at 16:20.08. Her time ranks her in the top-10 in the country. Sophomore Kathryn Fluehr was second at 16:5771 and junior Lindsay Eysenbach was third at 17:15.00. Senior Marisa Cummings earned the team points in the event as well ashe she ran 17:38.39 for sixth place.

The all-freshman distance medley relay of Rachael Chacko, Elisa Steele, Zoe Sims and Lizzie Bird was the runner up to Penn State posting a time of 11:37.07.

In the pole vault, freshman Allison Harris cleared 3.71 (12-2), her best mark of the season to take third. Senior Samantha Anderson was fourth with a mark of 3.41 (11-2.25).

Junior Joanna Anyanwu finished seventh in the finals of the 60-meter dash clocking a 7.82. She qualified for the eight-person final by running a 7.87 in the prelims.

The meet continues tomorrow at 11 a.m.
