A four-run outburst in the first inning was enough for the Rider baseball team, which held off a Princeton comeback attempt in a 5-3 midweek victory Wednesday afternoon at Sonny Pittaro Field.

Four Princeton players had multi-hit games, including second baseman Danny Hoy, who drove in a pair of runs with a second-inning single to centerfield. Princeton also got a run when Chad Powers singled in Paul Tupper in the fifth inning.

Powers, Tupper and Danny Baer each had two hits apiece for Princeton, which will conclude its Ivy League season this weekend with four games against travel partner Cornell. The Tigers will play a pair in Ithaca on Friday, and then will conclude Ivy play Sunday afternoon in a home doubleheader.

Chris Bodurian took the loss for Princeton after allowing four runs in three innings. The damage all took place in the first inning, and three of the runs were scored with two outs. Two singles, two hit batters and a walk all contributed to Rider's four-run inning, and the Broncs added their fifth run with back-to-back singles and a stolen base in the bottom of the fifth inning.
