After splitting for trips to both the Midlands Championships and the Wilkes Open prior to the New Year, the Princeton wrestling team will travel to Lancaster, Pa., for Saturday's Franklin & Marshall Open.
Approximately 270 wrestlers from more than 35 schools will compete in the day-long event at Franklin & Marshall, which starts at 9 am. The Princeton contingent will include a trio of wrestlers with double-digit wins. Leading the way is freshman Scott Gibbons (184), who has a 13-11 record heading into the weekend. He won twice at Midlands, including once in the championship round.
Both senior Zach Bintliff and junior Seth Hazleton have 10 wins, and both have winning records. Bintliff, a co-captain, won twice at Midlands and is a two-time placewinner at the EIWA Championships. Hazleton is 10-7 and is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Wilkes Open.
Following this weekend, Princeton will open Ivy competition Jan. 12 at Cornell, and then will take time off for finals. The Tiger return to the mats will come Feb. 2, when the team returns to Lancaster for a dual match against Franklin & Marshall.
