TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS INTERVIEWS: Part 1 & Part 2
One day after a 46th-place finish in the 50 free, sophomore Lisa Boyce moved into the national Top 40 Friday afternoon with her preliminary swim in the 100 back.
Boyce, a two-time Ivy League individual champion in the event, placed 38th among 63 NCAA qualifiers with a time of 53.81. That time is fastest among all Ivy League swimmers, though it will leave her outside the 'A' and 'B' finals, held Friday night at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
Boyce will conclude her first trip to NCAAs with the 100 free competition Saturday. Her 100 free time of 49.13 is 37th fastest in the nation, though it was good enough to win an Ivy League individual title in February. Boyce swept the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back at the 2012 Ivy League Championships.
