Senior Sarah Furgatch, who helped lead the women's swimming and diving team to the 2013 Ivy League championship, was one of 14 members of Princeton's graduating Class of 2013 to earn the prestigious Fulbright Grant.

Furgatch, whose memorable third-place finish in the 200 breast was a highlight of the final day of the 2013 Ivy League Championship weekend, has been a key contributor throughout her four years. She helped lead Princeton to three Ivy League titles over her four years, and she earned All-Ivy League recognition this season. Last season, Furgatch earned Mid-Major All-America Honorable Mention.

"We are so proud of Sarah for this remarkable achievement," said head coach Susan Teeter, who has led Princeton to 11 of the last 14 Ivy League Championships. "Our swimmers strive for the best both in the pool and in the classroom, and Sarah is proof that you can succeed on so many levels here at Princeton. A Fulbright scholar and an Ivy League champion — what a senior year for Sarah."

The Fulbright Scholarship, one of the most prestigious international academic awards, provides funding for artists, graduate students, graduating seniors, and teachers to teach or study abroad for a full year, as well as bringing international students to the U.S. The program was founded in 1946 by Senator J. William Fulbright, who proposed a bill to use money from selling surplus U.S. government property from WWII to fund international exchange between the United States and other countries.
