The fourth-ranked Princeton men's heavyweight rowing team got its 2014 season off to a strong start Saturday morning on Lake Carnegie. The Tigers kicked off the year with home wins over both Georgetown and Syracuse to kick off a full day of work.

The Princeton 2V also had a successful debut, topping Syracuse by more than 15 seconds in a time of 6:15.2. The Syracuse 3V and 4V both earned narrow victories over Princeton, including a three-second win in the third varsity race.
After the morning races, the teams took a break and then returned to Lake Carnegie for smaller afternoon pieces.
"Today’s racing was a solid first step for our squad," said head coach Greg Hughes. "We’ve had less water time this spring and the scrimmage format allowed us to test out some different combinations over a number of pieces. Princeton will spend its next three weeks on the road, including a trip to Annapolis next Saturday morning for the Navy-Princeton Cup. Princeton retained the Cup last year in the resumption of the historic Eastern rivalry. The Tigers will make their return to Lake Carnegie April 26 when they take on Cornell and Yale for the Carnegie Cup.
