Softball Sees Ivy Opener Halted Due to Rain
Princeton and Harvard were scoreless in the middle of the fourth inning of Saturday's first game when officials and coaches opted to halt the rest of the day due to rain.
The teams will resume the doubleheader at the point of suspension on a date to be determined. Princeton will aim to play its doubleheader against Dartmouth Sunday at 12 p.m. as scheduled, though the forecast calls for more rain.
When it was suspended, the game looked to be a good one. The Crimson were aggressive on the basepaths but were burned twice when runners were caught stealing to make the third out of the third inning and the second out of the fourth inning. Harvard left two runners on base in the second and fourth innings after Princeton starter Shanna Christian began the game with three straight strikeouts.
For its part, Princeton had chances as well. Twice, in the first and third innings, Princeton saw rallies end in double plays.
