Senior co-captain Libby Eyre, a two-time first-team All-America honoree, has been named one of three finalists for the Richey Award, given annually to the women’s college squash player who best exemplifies the ideals of squash in her love of and devotion to the game, her strong sense of fairness, and her excellence of play and leadership.

Eyre has been a four-year starter for the Tigers, and she helped lead Princeton to the 2013 Ivy League championship as the No. 2 player. She has been ranked in the top eight over each of the last two years, and she pushed former national champion Millie Tomlinson, another Richey Award finalist, before falling 3-2 in the 2013 individual quarterfinals.

"Libby has always conducted herself impeccably on the court as a model of fair play while remaining a truly fierce and tough competitor," head coach Gail Ramsay said.

Eyre could become the fifth Princeton recipient of the award, following Demer Holleran (1989), Hope Mackay (1992), Julia Beaver (2001) and Katie Giovinazzo (2012).

Eyre and fellow senior co-captain Alex Sawin will lead the Tigers to the 2014 Howe Cup championships this weekend. Princeton will be the fifth seed and will open against Yale Friday afternoon. All weekend times will be posted during the Howe Cup preview later this week on GoPrincetonTigers.com.
