Through the first three months of the season, the Princeton women’s squash team will spend only a precious couple hours in Jadwin Gym during actual competition.

In February, especially during the most crucial weekend of the season, the Tigers will make up for all that missed time.

The reigning Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers announced their 2013-14 women’s squash schedule recently, and it includes only one home match prior to February (a Nov. 24 showdown with Williams).

January, as always, will be a particularly grueling month for Princeton; the Tigers will play their first match in a five-week span at defending national champion Harvard (Jan. 11), and then will return from exam break with a midweek match at Penn (Jan. 29).

Over the last six years, Princeton has played a total of six regular season matches at those two locations, and it has gone 1-5 over that stretch. En route to the 2013 Ivy League title, Princeton defeated both teams at the Jadwin Squash Courts.

Jadwin will become a very familiar place to Princeton in February, as the Tigers will host four regular-season matches, as well as the 2014 Howe Cup championships. The month begins with a three-match home weekend, including a Saturday (Feb. 2) doubleheader with Yale and Stanford. Princeton defeated Yale 5-4 in its biggest final challenge during last year’s championship season.

The regular season finale will be Feb. 15 at Trinity, the team that knocked Princeton out
of the 2013 Howe Cup semifinal.

On Feb. 21, Jadwin will serve as host to the national team championships, with the nation final scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 23. Princeton has gone 5-1 in the last two home championship weekends, including its title run to conclude the 2008 season.

The season concludes Feb. 28-March 2 at the individual national championships, and Tiger fans will be able to make the rare close trip to see nationals. Ringe Courts at the University of Pennsylvania will serve as the host for the CSA nationals. Last year, Libby Eyre reached the quarterfinal round and pushed former national champion Millie Tomlinson to five games before falling short.
