Gail Ramsay on Maria Elena Ubina:
Maria Elena is a wonderful player and has just come off a great performance at the World Junior Championships, where the team finished second behind a strong Egyptian team. She also reached the Round of 16 in the individual event, which was the farthest any American reached. Maria Elena will add strength in the top part of our ladder. The loss of Julie Cerullo is a big one but I feel Maria Elena will help soften the blow.

Personal — born Jan. 13, 1995 … daughter of Senen and Elaine Ubina … both parents are photographers … has three younger brothers: Senen, Julio and Alberto … enjoys surfing and photography … may study languages at Princeton.
